Joyce Powell Sweet born January 14, 1940 passed away Tuesday January 3, 2012 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Lennie and Ottis Powell. She is survived by her husband Rev. William L. (Buddy) Sweet; Sons and Daughters-in-law Johnny and Jo Ann Sweet , Lenville and Connie Sweet; Daughter and Son-in-law Rebekah and Scott Owens; Brothers, Sisters and spouses Marshal and Velda Powell, Lenville and Lynn Powell, William and Selma Powell, Anne and Roger Weakley, Virginia and Tommy Ward, Elizabeth and Rex Sloan, Viola and David Kaufman; Sister-in-law and spouse Bea and Mike Headrick and Maxine Stephens; Grandchildren: Jonathan Sweet, Shannon Campbell, Tyler Owens, Storm Owens, Michael Owens, Aaron Sweet, Vannesa and Estefani; great-grandchildren: Madison, Laurel and Tommy Campbell, and Lorien Sweet; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Joyce served with Buddy in 50 years of pastoral ministry in Tennessee. To her last days she served others with great devotion and was especially noted for her love for family, everyone she met and her passion for Smoky Mountain Children’s Home. Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM, Friday, January 6, 2012 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Dr. Tim Hill officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM, Friday, January 6, 2012 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Family will gather at funeral home at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2012 to proceed to Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment.
