Joseph M. Van Son

March 7, 1928 — March 9, 2016

Joseph M. Van Son passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 09, 2016 with his loving wife Thea, and family members at his side. Born in Eindhoven, Netherlands, March 7, 1928, Joe grew up as one of ten children of Petronella F. (Roos) and Josephus J. Van Son, and was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters, marking this day as the end of a family’s generation. Joe and Thea married in 1955 and immediately moved to the United States, settling down in California with family from both sides. Educated as an architect and trained as a craftsman, Joe built his life around his family and his career as a Corporate Facilities Director with Unisys. Work brought Thea and Joe to Exton, Pennsylvania for 28 years before continuing their retirement near family in Maryville, Tennessee. All who knew Joe were blessed by his love for God, his family and his friends. He gave of himself in any way he could – whether through the work of his hands or blowing a kiss when he was unable to do more. Joe is survived by his wife, Thea, four sons, Carl (Sue), Mike, Steve (Claire) and Vince (Karen), 10 grandchildren, Brian, Kayla, Jennifer, Nicole, Collin, Megan, Caroline, Nicholas, Kendall, & Amy, and 7 great-grandchildren, Conner, Lucy, Claire, Lincoln, Owen, Ellie, Dax. Friends and relatives are invited to share in our celebration of his life here on earth at a Mass of Christian Burial to be held in his honor on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:30 AM with Father Bill McKenzie officiating.
