Joseph Pershing Sharp age 91 of Maryville, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at Sterling House. He was born on November 9, 1922 in Madisonville, TN to Robert and Grace Hargis Sharp. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his wife of 71 years, his children, and his extended family unconditionally. They lived in Independence, MO for 37 years and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Joe was a devoted Christian and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was active in K.I.T. Club. He retired from U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Kansas City, MO, and was a proud Veteran of US Navy during World War II. Preceded in death by: Wife, Bonnie L. Whitehead Sharp, Son, Stan Sharp, Brother, Grant Sharp, Sister-in-law, Joan Sharp, Parents, Robert & Grace Sharp. Survivors include: Son, Gregory Kent Sharp of San Antonio, TX; Daughter & Son-in-law, Barbara & Daniel Steinke of Michigan City, IN; Grandsons, Chad Steinke & wife Jenna and Douglas Steinke & wife Caitlin; Great-Granddaughter, Madeline Steinke all of Chicago; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Mack & Betty Sharp and Jack & Martha Sharp; Sister & Brother-in-law, Sue & Ken Bingham; many loving and devoted nieces and nephews all of Maryville. Funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment will follow at Baker's Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3736 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37804 in memory of Joseph.
