Johnnie Richard Spurling

Johnnie R. Spurling, age 84, of Greenback, went home to heaven on January 12, 2015 at his daughter's home. He was born May 17, 1930 to William and Alice Spurling in Sevierville, TN. John held numerous jobs in his lifetime, but retired from the Jeep Corporation in Toledo, Ohio, in 1992 after 30 years of service. John is a member of First Baptist church of Friendsville and enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (in 2009) ; his sister Dorothy Sands; half-sister, Marie; half-brothers, J.M. Earl and Willie. He is survived by his loving children, daughter, Leila Alice Spurling; sons, Richard (Marsha), Steve (Loletta), John (Wendy), Sam (Hannah), George (Lucy), Bill & Bob Spurling; 12 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Smith West Chapel. Interment will follow at Marble Hill Church Cemetery.
