John Leslie Wisecarver Jr.

August 8, 1926 — September 29, 2015

John L. Wisecarver, Jr. age 89 of Alcoa passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 surrounded by his family, at Shannondale of Maryville. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and a boy scout Troop 85 Scout Master. John kept many hobbies, gardening and caring for his lawn, drama, ballroom dancing, clogging, and enjoyed being a caregiver. He was a loving husband and dad. Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wisecarver and his son, Howard Wisecarver. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Gail Wisecarver and Drew and Robin Wisecarver; grandson, Mathew; sisters-in-law, Margaret Welchance and Minerva Henderson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Grandview Cemetery for the inurnment. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Catherine Nance officiating. Following the service the family invites everyone to Wesley Hall for shared time with the family and friends, relaxing together with food and refreshments.
