John Hampton Spence

John Hampton Spence, age 90 of Maryville, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022 at Blount Memorial Hospital.  John was born January 11, 1932 to Robert and Jesse Spence in Dayton, Tennessee.  He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.  John was a member of the Masonic Order F&AM and a member of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alma Louise Fancher Spence, and 7 brothers.  He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Amy Spence II of Chugiak, Alaska; daughter, Betty Spence of Maryville; grandchildren, Louise, John, and Will Spence; sister, Helen Kerr of Maryville; A host of nieces and nephews also survive.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a Celebration of John’s life to follow at 6:00 pm.  Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Grandview Cemetery for the graveside and interment.
