John Waverly Mason

Mason, John "Waverly" age 64 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He retired from the Department of Defense Civil Service after 38 years. His career began in Yorktown, Virginia and ended in Panama City, Florida. He relocated to Blount County in March 2003. He loved living in the beautiful Tennessee Valley area calling it his "peaceful valley." He was an accomplished woodturner and spent many happy hours working in his workshop and sharing his enthusiasm for this craft with fellow members of the Smoky Mountain Woodturners Club. Survivors include: Wife of 26 years, Mary Mason; Cousins, Gerald Jones of Mathews, VA, Gordon Jones of Canada, Joe Rowe of Chesapeake, VA, Shirley Lauer of Chesapeake, VA, Bobby Mason, and Linda Dodenhoff; Aunts, Elizabeth Rowe of Chesapeake, VA and Betty Jane Jenson, and Mary Ellen Mason; Mother-in-law, Beaulah Jobe of Gloucester, VA. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM.
