John Edward Charlton, 85 of Louisville, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 10, 2024. John retired after 38 years from Cardinal Health as a pharmaceutical rep. After retirement, he was employed by GAT at McGhee-Tyson Airport and started his own greenhouse business. He remained very active until his death, with bowling at Crest Lanes and Everett Senior Center, farm work, woodworking, gardening and farming. John was a longtime member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and the Pickens Bible Fellowship Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Charlton; brothers, Bill, James and Robert Charlton; sisters, Pat Burns and Isabell Hunt. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy Long Haynes Charlton; daughters, Cindy (Bobby) Alloway, LuJean (Tim) Buckner, and LeAnne (Todd) Moore; son, David (Rachel) Haynes; grandchildren, Abby (Carter) Brown, Charlton (Katelyn) Buckner, Eden (Cameron) Clamon, Maggie (Andrew) Patterson, Grace (Ian) Reilly, Caroline Moore, Anna Alloway, Laurel Haynes, and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara Charlton, Betty (Tommy) Lay, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM in the Smith Trinity Chapel with a Celebration of John’s life to follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920 for the graveside service and interment. Memorial donations may be made to the Paul Pickens Sunday School Class Missionary Fund at 3140 Maloney Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920.
