Joe Kenneth Melton, age 81, of Louisville, Tennessee passed away Monday February 25, 2019. A lifelong resident of Blount County, he owned several hair salons and was the longest consecutively tenured commissioner for Blount County proudly serving the constituents of District 10 for twenty years including one term as Chairman. Kenneth was raised in Blount County and after attending Everett High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in California. He coached football for many years with the Maryville Bears and Cubs teams. He was a proud Republican Party member and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Joe and Genolia Melton. His is survived by children Jenica Melton, Kenda (John) McCord, Jamala (Mike) Anderson, and Scott Melton; grandchildren Brooke Fuchcar, John, Jason, and James McCord, Ben and Beau Tatham; step grandchildren Joe, Maddie, Katie, and Zach Anderson; sister Shirley (Tim) Antonacci; brothers Jim Melton and Randy (Pam) Melton; ex-wife and mother of children Janie Melton; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Smith Trinity Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Greg Long officiating.
