Joe S. Ingram

Joe S. Ingram, age 62, finished his race and passed into glory, Saturday, August 27, 2011. He was a 1966 graduate of Alcoa High School and a 1970 graduate of the University of Tennessee. Joe was a CPA and a partner in the accounting firm of Ingram, Overholt & Bean. He was also active in many community activities such as Jaycees, Kiwanis (President), United Way (Campaign Chair), and on the Board of Directors of Foothills Bank & Trust. Joe was also involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Blount Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Boy Scouts. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. John J. Ingram, Jr. Joe is survived by his wife of 40 years, Teresa Sullivan Ingram, daughters Jennifer Ingram Wacherhagen and husband Jason and Meredith Ingram Rigsby and husband Joshua and the love of his heart, his only grand-daughter, Taylor Jo Wackerhagen. Brother, Dr. John J. Ingram III and wife Patricia. Aunts, Christine Clark and husband Harold and Sue Hedrick and husband Ed. Father and Mother-in-law, Ralph and Betty Sullivan. Brother and Sister-in-law Steve and Janet Sullivan. Nieces Amanda Ingram and Stephany Sullivan. Nephews, John J. Ingram, IV, Daniel Sullivan and Chris Sullivan. Great-nephews John Jackson Ingram V and Elijah Sullivan and many cousins. Joe was an avid runner and ran in many races until his illness prevented it. He loved NASCAR and had been to every track. He also loved trading cars and had quite a collection over the years. Joe was Church Treasurer at Broadway Baptist for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Gideons. Joe will be remembered for his wonderful personality, generous spirit, special smile and sense of humor. Special thanks to Dr. Spence McCochren, Dr. Peter Scott, Dr. Wally Werner, Dr. Randy Reisser, Dr. John Cowan, all the staff at Thompson Oncology at Blount Memorial Hospital and to all the nurses at Blount Memorial Hospital who have helped to take care of him during his 18 ½ year battle with carcinoid cancer. The family would appreciate donations being made to Broadway Baptist Church Building Fund at 2329 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37804, Gideons International or the United Way of Blount County 2011 Campaign at 1615 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37804. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 with Rev. Tony Collins officiating. The family and friends will assemble on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Grandview Cemetery for the Interment. The family will receive friends starting at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Smith West Chapel of Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
