Jimmie Lee Marsh

April 23, 1918 — August 17, 2014

Jimmie Lee Marsh, age 96, born April 23, 1918, gained the glory of eternity, his heavenly home, on August 17, 2014, joining his adoring wife of 71 years, Beatrice Raines Marsh. Like the apostle Paul, he "fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept firmly the faith" and will obtain the crown of righteousness. He would say to us today, "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." As a consistently happy, joyful person who loved the Lord, his love overflowed to everyone he met. He had a heart to win souls to Christ serving his Lord daily and worshipping with his friends who were so dear to him at Fairpark Wesleyan Church, teaching Sunday School and serving in various other ministries. He was a former member and servant at Lone Oak Baptist Church and retired from ALCOA, Inc., with over 40 years of service. He was also preceded in death by: Parents, Frank Sr. & Ethel Marsh; Brothers, Phil and Frank Marsh Jr.; Sisters, Kathryn Hughett, Lillian Isbel, and Florence Stailey. He is survived by: Sisters, Violet Parsley and Betty Jo Jones; Special Sister-in-law, Pauline (Charles) Ledford. He was blessed with four loving, surviving sons who held their father on such a high pedestal that was attainable only through Christ: Freddie (Paula), Richard (Cynthia), David, and Steve (Kathy). Other survivors include Grandsons, Todd (Kari), Richard (Dana), Steve, Richie (Krystal), Micah (Ashley), and Jared (Tabitha) Marsh; Granddaughters, Jackie (Tim) Bradley, Heather Fraze, Dawn, Misty, Christie, Brittany, and Stephanie Marsh; Granddaughter by Marriage, Renae (Jeff) Matthews; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He loved his family unconditionally and expressed his desire to meet them all in Heaven. The only way the family can fill the void of his loss is to know that this desire may one day be fulfilled. Special appreciation is expressed to Dr. John Ingram and office staff, Blount Memorial Hospital, and M.E.N.D. Clinic, and a very special thanks to Carol Clapper. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Glenn Dotson, Rev. Richard Williams, Rev. Billy Carrigan, Rev. Bob Nuchols, and Rev. Rick Hutchison officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 22, 2014 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church he so dearly loved, Fairpark Wesleyan Church, 1509 Jefferson Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com.
