Jessie Thompson Lowery

Jessie Thompson Lowery age 89 of Maryville passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Church of God and First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, FL. Jessie worked for the West Palm Beach Recreation Department, YWCA, and ran a travel club in West Palm Beach, FL. She and her husband spent 5 years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where she taught preschool at British Continental School and wrote articles for Arab Newspaper. They retired in 1985 and traveled throughout the United States, including Alaska and Canada, and settled in Maryville in 1993. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Collins; son, Stephen Lowery. Survivors include; : husband of 71 years, Jack Lowery Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Anne Lowery, Robert and Bonnie Lowery; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bob Coley; daughters, Jeannette Shoen and Ruth Kyte; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the Smith Trinity Chapel. Entombment will follow at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00p.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 and from 12:00 noon until service time on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
