Jessie Aleen Moore Buchanan died Monday, June 30, on her 85th birthday. A lifelong resident of Blount County, TN she was with her daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Nick Marrone, in Charleston, SC, when she died. A dedicated homemaker, she was known for her extraordinary craftsmanship, especially in quilting, sewing, crocheting, and button jewelry making, as well as her interests in local history, antiques and collectibles. She is predeceased by her husband, John Stanley Buchanan, her parents and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by her granddaughter, Jacquelynn (Jackie) Cotten; Jackie's husband Nick Cotten; and two great granddaughters, Rachel and Nikki, all of Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James Robert and Helen Moore of Maryville, TN and her sister, Betty Ray of Deland, FL. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Beecher Whitehead presiding. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to a reception at Miss Olivia's Table on W.
