Jeffery Alan Waters

Jeffery Alan Waters, age 54, a long-time member of Erin Presbyterian Church, went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2014, after a brief illness. He was a loving husband, father, son, and caretaker to his parents. Jeff had a quiet, sincere spirit, and he was often described as a "big man with a big heart." He enjoyed the outdoors, scuba diving, fly fishing, traveling, cooking, and volunteering on the Erin Presbyterian property team. Jeff's joy in life was his family, and he showed a great love for his wife and daughter. Jeff graduated from Maryville High School, where he was a member of both the football and track teams. After attending Hiawassee College, Jeff began his 30 year career as a Civil/Structural Designer working for Lockwood Greene Engineers, Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, Inc., and CB&I where he made many life-long friends. Jeff will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Nicole Haulsee Waters; daughter, Michelle Yvonne Waters; mother, Gladys Marie Waters; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kathy Waters; nieces Kaitlyn and Hannah Waters and many cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Perry Waters; grandparents, Frank and Nammie Sue Ricketts; grandparents, William Perry and Lola Waters. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, at Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Maryville, TN. The service will immediately follow in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. John Stuart officiating. The graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., October 17, at Grandview Cemetery.
