Jean Louise Ross

May 16, 1925 — February 28, 2017

Jean Louise Filson Ross passed away February 28, 2017. She joined her husband of 65 years, William (Bill) Ross who predeceased her in 2007. Jean was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania on May 16, 1925. She and Bill lived in Oil City until 2006 when they moved to Maryville, TN. Jean was the organist for Good Hope Lutheran Church and the local chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star in which she was a member for 57 years. She worked several years as the manager of the J. C. Penney catalog department. Jean finished her working career as a medical office manager. She enjoyed giving piano and organ lessons from her home. Jean was an avid bridge player, golfer and cook. There was never a neighborhood, family, or church event that didn't have one of her casseroles. She loved her family and many friends. Jean is survived by her four daughters: Dr. Nancy (Roger) Sederberg of Valparaiso, IN., Ms. Deborah Ross of Lady Lake, FL, Dr. Julie Durand of Maryville, TN, and Lorri (Dr. Thomas) Gibbons of Irmo, SC, and her sister Rhea Filson Clouse of San Antonio, TX. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Dr. Rochelle (Mike) Butler and their sons, Brett, Benjamin, and Brandon of Maryville, TN; Erik Sederberg of Chicago, IL; Alison Gibbons of Asheville, NC, Michael Gibbons of Columbia, SC; Amelia Durand Williams and her children Mason Duncan and Magnolia Williams of Maryville, TN. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 5 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the Smith Trinity Chapel, 1402 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN. A memorial service will follow from 2:30 -3:00 pm with The Rev. Steve Mosher of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church officiating. Jean will be laid to rest with her husband, Bill, at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Cranberry, PA.
