Janice Gay Moore

May 14, 1934 — March 23, 2025

Janice Gay Clemens Moore was born on May 14, 1934, in Mentor, Tennessee, and passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. She grew up in Blount County and graduated from Everett High School in 1951. In high school, she met and started dating the love of her life, Don Moore. After graduating from Everett, she attended Maryville College, where she earned her degree in piano and became the first in her family to graduate from college. Janice and Don were married on May 19, 1955, at Immanuel United Methodist Church, and they were committed to one another for almost 70 years in marriage. They raised a son (Don Moore, Jr.) and a daughter (Kim Moore Bledsoe) who are both eternally grateful for the consistent, Christian upbringing and the love that defined their home.

Janice Moore was a talented pianist, who shared her gift by teaching music lessons and by playing faithfully for her church (Maryville First Church of the Nazarene) for almost 70 years. She also taught elementary school children at Friendsville for 30 years, where she made lasting, positive impressions on countless students and colleagues.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clemens and Jewel Phelps Clemens, and by her beloved brother, Robert Clemens, Jr. (Bobby). She is survived by her husband, Don Moore, her children, Don Moore, Jr. (Patti) and Kim Moore Bledsoe (Steve), her grandchildren, Lynsey Wolfe (Steve), Katie Ferrell (Ryan), and Carrie Carico (Josh), and her great-grandchildren, Caedon Jackson, Abigayle Ferrell, Ashling Wolfe, Charlotte Ferrell, and Nora Carico. She also leaves behind several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, and friends.

The legacy she leaves behind is one of greatness-commitment to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, devotion to her family, service to her church, and the calling to be a "prayer warrior". We are grateful to have reaped the benefits of her life well-lived, and we rejoice that she has been welcomed into Heaven by Jesus Christ, Himself.
