James A. Vaughn

JAMES (JIM) ALFRED VAUGHN- age 79, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at home, with his wife of 51 years and his daughter at his side. Jim was a much beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where he married his wife in 1962. He moved to Titusville, Florida in 1966, where he worked as an accountant for McDonnell Douglas-Boeing Corporation for 25 years. He and his wife retired to Maryville, Tennessee in 1998. Jim is fondly remembered for creating a loving home with his wife, teaching his four kids to fish in the ocean, being a wonderful grandfather, and hiking with his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Elizabeth F. Vaughn and his infant daughter, Ann Marie. Jim leaves behind his wife, JoAnn Icile (Hemmer) Vaughn; son and wife, James E. and Christina Vaughn of Charlotte NC; son and wife, Thomas J. and Katherine Vaughn of Birmingham AL; daughter and husband, Mary C. and Berani Halley of Knoxville TN; and daughter and companion, Elizabeth A. Vaughn and Robert Smith, of Atlanta GA; and eight loving grandchildren. Jim was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday January 20, at Smith Trinity Chapel, with a graveside service following the ceremony at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, also in Maryville. Pastor Rich Elseroad will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm.
