Pershing, James E. age 89 of Alcoa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at his home. A veteran serving in the US Navy during WWII, he was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa and had retired from ALCOA after 37 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lola Easter Pershing; son, Dennis (Mr. P) Pershing; parents and six siblings. Survivors include his wife, Mae Brandon Pershing; sons & daughters-in-law, Jim & Brenda Pershing of Loudon, Steve Pershing of Maryville, and Ed & Karen Pershing of Knoxville; grandchildren, Anjanette, Brad, Ashlea, Whit, Ryan and Kristen; great-grandchild, Cash. Family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Alcoa First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Joe Green officiating. The family & friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2007 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment.
