James C. Oakley age 85 of Seymour passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force with 26 years of service during WW II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Post Office after 20 years. James was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion. Preceded in death by his son, James C. Oakley, Jr.; great grandson, Devon Jennings Oakley; daughters-in-law, Shelia F. Oakley and Brenda Greer Oakley. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Virginia E. Oakley; sons, Michael Oakley and wife, June, Stephen F. Oakley; daughter, Mildred Josephine Davis and husband, Carl; grandchildren, Kimberly, Scott, Jason, Michael Howard, Angela, Rachel, and James Andrew; many great grandchildren; brother, Roy Lynn Oakley; sisters, Mildred Stinnett and Sarah Burns; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on, Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Interment will be at 1:30 PM, Monday, May 4, 2015 at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.
