James Aubrey Gorman, Jr. M.D. (Col), born July 28, 1923 to Aubrey & Frankie Gorman in San Antonio, TX, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Asbury Place. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1941 in San Antonio, TX. Joined the Air Force and attended Flight School becoming a pilot during World War II flying B-26 where he received the Purple Heart. He left the Air Force and attended Pre-Med at St. Mary's and Trinity Colleges in San Antonio. Jim attended South Western Medical School where he completed his medical training, went on to surgical training at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX - returning to the military to pay for the training. Other medals he received were: The Flying Cross, Air Medal, American Campaign Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Ribbons, European, African and Middle Eastern, Four Bronze Stars, A.F. Longevity Ribbons, Four National Medals, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, A.F. OLC, and National Defense Medal. Survivors include: Wife, Claire Gorman; Daughter, Bitsy Irene Gorman of San Antonio, TX; Sister-in-law, Jeanne Alley of Louisville; Brother-in-law & wife, George & Glenna Blenkhorn; Nieces and Nephews, Mike Alley & wife Fran, Pat Alley & wife Karen, John "Tommie" Alley & wife Sonja, Joel Alley & friend Debbie, Carolyn Alley, Claire Alley, Ben Stone & wife Kelly, Tamara & John Kunberger of Tallassee, Misty & Scott Alley. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 1:30 PM, Monday, May 11, 2015 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway with military honors.
