James Arlin Goforth, age 75 of Greenback, went home to be with his heavenly father on Friday, November 24, 2017. He attended Knob Rd. Missionary Baptist Church and was a heavy machine operator for Vulcan Materials for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Tina Goforth of Maryville; sisters, Ethel Davidson of Maryville, Judy Bellew of Henderville, N.C.; and nephew, William Cook of Henderville, N.C. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 37 years, Betty Goforth; sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Kristi Goforth of Maryville, Steve and Lorie Goforth of Butler, TN, and Buddy and Crissy Goforth of Madisonville; daughter, Kim Goforth of Greenville; sisters, Shirley Anderson of Maryville and Mary and Tom Howard of North Carolina; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family also survive. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Knob Rd. Missionary Baptist Church with a Celebration of Jimmy’s life to follow at 1:00pm with Rev.’s Darryl Croft, Jerry Little, and Marcus Little officiating.
