James Farrell Gilliam, age 82 of Maryville, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022. James was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a loyal employee of Dairy Farmers of America for over 20 years and was a faithful member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church. James served in the U.S. National Guard and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, J.P. and Doris Gilliam and brother, Terry Gilliam. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie Gilliam; Son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Rose Gilliam of Roaming Shores, Ohio; Daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Jeffery Crye of Greenback, Tn; Grandchildren, Russell Jr., Laina, Raina, Brayden, Madisyn, and Makenzie; Sisters, Beverly McGee of Mulberry, TN, Phyllis Fentress of Murfreesboro, Tn, and sister-in-law, Opal Gilliam of Murfreesboro, Tn; several nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins also survive. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm in the Smith Chapel with a Celebration of James’s life to follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jimmy Riner officiating. The burial will follow at Pine Grove Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Hamock, Don Franklin, Jim Self, Eldra Best, Tom Moss, Jim Heaton, Ted Whitsett, Don Kagley, Bobby Nick, and Don Crull. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’s name to a charity of your choice.
