James Billy “Bill” Gibson, age 86, died early Saturday morning at 1:00 a.m. at Blount Memorial Hospital of a massive heart attack. He was born in Blount County on August 15, 1930 where he lived his entire and full life. He was a 1949 graduate of Maryville High School and he married Kathleen Garner in 1951 and would have been married for 65 years in December of 2016. He was a loving, giving and devoted family man to his wife and sons whom he dearly loved. His special love and pride to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He remembers his many close friends from camping and fishing and stayed close forever. Dear friends who have visited and called and of his family of our neighborhood. Also, his many friends from Kroger where he worked for 53 years. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Esteen Eslinger and Eva Jo Starrett; Brothers, Gene Gibson of Ga, Buddy Gibson of Ga, and Gerald Gibson of Seymour. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; Their three sons and their wives, Jim and Becky Gibson of Knoxville, Greg and Rhonda Gibson of Friendsville, and Eddy and Laura Gibson of Maryville; Precious grandchildren, Jim’s – Melissa and Jeff Gleason of Hoover, AL, Heather and Josh Larson of Maryville; Greg’s – Jason and Liana Gibson of Friendsville, Rachel and Jason Stafford of Maryville; Eddy’s – Lindsey Best and Cameron Gibson of Maryville. Great grandchildren, Grant and Ben Gleason, Caitlin Williams, Tanner and Jada Stafford, Nate, Maggie and Mia Larson, and Belamy Gibson; Nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Kenny Armstrong and Rev. Ronnie Reagan officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
