James Frank Esslinger age 79 of Townsend, passed away Saturday, November, 4, 2017 at the family home. Frank worked at the Post Office beginning at age 19 until he retired in 1993. He then worked at Popes Plant Farm for 9 years. He always enjoyed building computers and tinkering with gadgets. He also enjoyed living on the river and watching the geese and his many Chihuahuas he's had through the years. He was a faithful friend of Bill Wilson's for 29 years. Frank was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by: Daughter, Jennifer Hammond; Parents, Jim & Lottie Esslinger; Step daughter, Cathy Williams; Stepson, Michael Barnes. Survivors include: Wife of 45 years, Louise Esslinger; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Tammy & Richard Tompa of Knoxville, Carol Esslinger Forth of Louisville, and Sharron Fair and Ken Michel of Knoxville; Stepson, Woody Coker of Maryville; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family; Brothers & Sister-in-law, Earl & Doris Esslinger of NC and Don Esslinger of Knoxville; Sister, Ann Esslinger Stanley of Knoxville; Pet Geese, Home & Helen. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Smith West Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Ronnie Hepperly and Earl Esslinger officiating.
