James H. Courson age 83 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the family home. He was a graduate of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1960. He worked as a management consultant throughout the United States, Mexico, and Nova Scotia. He served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian in Palatka, FL. He loved golf and exercising at the Springbrook Wellness Center. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Hardy and Mattie Courson; grandchild, Ashton Norfleet; siblings, A.M. Courson, Hardy Courson, Jr., Evelyn Tomlinson, Vanessa Poole, Winnie Lue Evans. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Hamilton Courson; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Rev. Dr. Greg Norfleet of Chapel Hill, NC, Jacki and Kevin Gross of Maryville; grandchildren, Evan Norfleet, Nathan Norfleet, Natalie-Claire Gross, Alyssa Gross, Joy Gross, Gabrielle Gross. Many nieces, nephews, and other family also survived.
