James E. Conner, Sr.

James "Jim" Edwin Conner Sr., age 89 of Maryville passed away Friday, September 29, 2006 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, New Providence Masonic Lodge #128 F&AM serving as current Worshipful Master, past Master of George Washington #181, 330 Scottish Rite, Red Cross of Constantine, past Grand Illustrious Master of Grand Council of the State of TN, also member of Landrum Lodge #278 of Landrum, S.C. Jim was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and the owner of Conner's Bedding and Upholstery. Proceeded in death by his parents, Jehu and Nellie Conner; and his first wife, Hop Conner. Jim is survived by his wife, Edna B. Conner; son, James E. Conner Jr. of Landrum, SC; daughter, Nell Mitchell of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; brothers, Willard Conner of Maryville and Dan B. Conner of Pigeon Forge. A Masonic Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with The Reverend Martha Sterne officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2006, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
