James Dale Burchfield

James "Dale" Burchfield, age 82 of Alcoa, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, served in the US Army in Korea, and retired from the Blount County Sheriff's Department. Dale was preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Hessie Mae Burchfield and brothers, Eugene and Lawrence Burchfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Erma Sue Burchfield, daughter Sheila (Willie) Hijer of Knoxville, son Mike (Susan) Burchfield of Lenoir City; grandchildren Chris Burchfield, Amy (James "Cletus") Cornett, Sami Hijer, and Brittney Burchfield; great grandchildren Cain and Eli Burchfield, Brayden and Levi Cornett; sister Pam Wardell and brother Bennie Burchfield. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Monday, March 24, 2014 at Smith Chapel with Rev. Carl White and Rev. Rex Everett officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery.
