James N. Barker

Retired Staff Sergeant James "Jim" N. Barker age 75 of Rockford went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. He was retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a Korean & Vietnam Veteran. He was very proud to have served his country. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after 13 years of service. He also worked at Hertz Rental Car for several years. Preceded in death by: Mother, Naomi Love Barker Saunders; Father & Stepmother, James & Carman Barker; Brother, Kenneth Barker; In-laws, Rev. Max & Katherine Kelley. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 33 years, Sue Kelley Barker; Daughter & Son-in-law, Angela & Thomas Woods of Maryville; Daughter, Tracey Agee of Oklahoma; Half Sister, Terry Wymore of California; Stepsister, Jean Dean of Oregon; Grandson, Spencer Barker of Rockford; Granddaughters, Chandra Oliver & Deanra Cole of Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren; Brother & Sister-in-law, Leon & Retha Kelley; Several nieces and nephews; all his friends at Texas Roadhouse. Special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at UT Hospital. Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2009 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Billy Carrigan officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Middlesettlements Cemetery for the interment with military honors.
