James C. Arwood Sr. age 78 of Maryville, TN passed away Saturday March 26th at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. James was born July 8, 1943 in Kelso, WA. and later moved to Maryville, TN. James entered the US Army at the age of 18 and married the love of his life Judy, in 1963. During those years he became the proud father of three sons Jeffrey, James, John. James worked for ServiceMaster before starting his own cleaning business called Arwood Home Cleaning. After several successful years, he owned a franchise called ServiceMaster by Arwood. In 1981, following the leading of the Lord, James became the founding pastor of the First Apostolic Church of Maryville. In 1994 James opened the largest Christian bookstore in Blount County, Maryville-Alcoa Christian Supply. James loved to fish, pan for gold, ride his motorcycle, watch UT sports, Nascar, raising chickens, his family and most important, the Lord. He is a descendant of the Cades Cove families, Myers and Gregory. James is proceeded in death by his father Jeff Arwood and mother, Thelma June Myers Arwood. James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Judy, his three sons, Jeffrey (Selina), James Jr, John (Tammy), grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Hannah, Jonathan, Victoria, Autumn, great-grandson Justin, sister June (John) Adams, and brothers Harley (Judy), Orville “Bud” (Delores), Larry (Diane), Tony (Lidia), Jack (Lynn), multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and godchildren Rachel, Rebekah, Christian, James and their mother, Karen. Family will receive friends from 4pm-6pm on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at First Apostolic Church of Maryville, TN, where the Funeral Service will immediately follow officiated by Pastor Kenneth Carpenter, Rev. Billy McCool, Rev. Bob Nuchols. The Interment service will be held at 11am on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Clarks Grove Cemetery in Maryville, TN.
