Jama Ballard Mandrell

Jama Ballard Mandrell, age 79 of Maryville, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at her home. Jama was a longtime member and very active in the choir and the hand bells at Maryville 1st United Methodist Church. She loved volunteering at the Welcome table and Celebrate Recovery. Jama was retired as an RN with oncology medicine for 25+ years. She was a lifelong Tennis player and was very active as a runner and walker. Jama was a very big cat lover and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had the true heart of a servant and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Louella Ballard; brother, James Robert Ballard; and brother-in-law, William Richard Grigsby. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Ben and Lore Mandrell of Nolensville, TN, Nancy and Larry Johnson of Maryville, Pamela and Todd Scott of Maryville, and Caroline and Dustin Wilson of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kerrigan Mandrell, Anna Mandrell, Sydney Johnson, Katelyn Scott, Makinley Scott, Taylor Wilson, and Leslie Wilson; sister, Sara Carolyn Grigsby of Okeechobee, Fl; nephews, Robbie Ballard and Bill Grigsby Jr.; many other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Friday, August 09, 2024 with a Celebration of Jama’s life to follow at Maryville 1st United Methodist Church.
