Jack Wayne Raby, Sr.

Jack Wayne Raby, Sr., 79, of Alcoa, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Gladys Raby of Tellico Plains; sisters, Bonnie Webb, Jean Watson, Hilda Massingale; brother, Billy Raby. Mr. Raby was an outstanding football player for Tellico Plains High School, Hiwassee College and Eat Tennessee State University. He served in the United States Army and graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1961. Mr. Raby was a teacher and football coach at Young High School and Alcoa High School. He worked for Dempster Brothers and then for Crane Carrier until his retirement. Mr. Raby was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church. He is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Judy Frank Raby; sisters, Bernice Ervin and Pat Hartis of Florida, Nancy Sitzler of Cleveland, TN; brother, Frank Delano Raby of Cleveland, TN; son, Jack Raby Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sharon of Maryville; daughter, Jill Simonic and son-in-law, Patrick of Virginia; son, Jamie Raby and daughter-in-law, Cheryl of Maryville; mother-in-law, Lucille Taylor of Alcoa; grandchildren, Alisha Raby Wilburn and her husband Brett, Jeana Raby Kassner and her husband Matt, Kelli Raby, Daniel Raby, Matthew Simonic, Michael Simonic, Emily Raby; great-granddaughter, Bryn Wilburn; and many nieces and nephews.
