Isabel Wilkes Ellis of Nashville, TN, age 89, has died April 16, 2010. Her passing was peaceful during the early hours of the morning at Asbury Nursing Home in Maryville, TN. She was born April 13, 1921 in the town of Ripley, TN, the daughter of Charles O. Wilkes and Isabel Abbott Wilkes. She was the oldest child and is survived by her brother, Charles Wilkes. She was married September 16, 1946 to Paul T. Ellis of Athens, TN. She resided in Nashville, TN for over 50 years. She was employed by and retired from the Metro Nashville Election Commission all the while working as homemaker for her family. She was an avid Genealogist and belonged to numerous heritage based groups such as the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her great passion in life was traveling and she visited over 100 countries across the globe. She was a member of Saint Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Nashville, TN. Isabel is survived by: husband, Paul of Maryville, TN; sons, Thomas Ellis & wife Donna Mae of Los Angeles, CA and Lee Ellis & wife Deborah of Knoxville; grandchildren, Matthew & Kevin of CA. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 19, 2010 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Harry Howard officiating.
