On Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, Iris Everett Mustapich, loving wife and mother of three, passed away at the age 86 at Magnolia Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on a snowy day in her family’s farmhouse on December 23rd, 1935 in McMinn County, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen Whitaker Basinger and John Peyton Basinger of Athens, Tennessee and husband’s Donald Ross Everett and Richard J. Mustapich of Maryville, Tennessee and brother Jerry Donald Basinger of McMinnville, Tennessee.
She is survived by children Amy Everett Phillips; Jeffrey Alan Everett of Gainesville, Florida and Timothy Ross Everett of Pasadena, California. Her brother John Ulysses Basinger of Woodbury, Tennessee and step-daughters Patricia Mustapich of Milwaukee and Kathryn Long of Toledo, Ohio. Her grandchildren Joshua M. Orton; Raymond and Samantha Schroder; Bryan, Eric, Christine and Robert Long; great granddaughters Alice Orton, Mikayla and Emily Long.
Iris loved family, friends, and her many pets over the years. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling, sightseeing, and she had a lifelong passion for the Tennessee Volunteers. She was born into the Baptist Church and most recently attended the Community Church at Tellico Village. She earned her cap as a registered nurse from Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. She retired after nearly 50 years as a nurse, having worked at the Fairpark Healthcare Center in Maryville, Tennessee, as the director of nursing at Holy Angels Residential Facility in Shreveport, Louisiana, in various hospitals, and at a physician’s office.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Friday, July 8th at Smith Trinity Chapel. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and entombment at 1:00 pm, Friday July 8th at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel.
