Irene Gheens

Irene L. Gheens age 92 of Maryville passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Fairpark Healthcare Center. She was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church. She was active in national, state, and local politics. Irene was a Past President of the Blount County Women's Democratic Club. Preceded in death by: Husband, Austin D. Gheens; Parents, Mr. & Mrs. John B. Williams; Brothers, Oliver & Verneum Williams; Sister, Nellie Northern all of Newport, TN. Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law, John H. & Juanita Gheens of Maryville; Grandchildren, Kevin Gheens & wife Janet of Memphis, Jolanda Hamm & husband Geoff of Maryville; Great-Grandchildren, Jace & Jamie Hamm, Alex Gheens. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Grandview Cemetery for the graveside service and interment with Rev. Keith Johnson and Rev. Doc Beale officiating.
