Hubert Dorsey Norman

February 22, 1925 — March 3, 2016

Hubert (Hub) Dorsey Norman was born to John Stacy and Alice Lucille Norman on February 22, 1925 in DeLand, FL. He was one of six children – one brother and four sisters. Hub was reared in DeLand where he attended De Land High School, graduating in June of 1943. After graduating, Hub enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 1943 and served in the 910th Field Artillery Battalion, 85th Division in the Mediterranean theatre until January 1946. Hub returned to DeLand and immediately met his future wife, Lida, who was attending Stetson University. Hub and Lida were married on August 1, 1946 and Hub started attending Stetson in September of that year. After two and a half years (pre law and Law School), Hub began his career in sales. He joined the Toni Company (a Division of the Gillette Co.) in 1953 and served as a Territorial Sales Representative before being assigned to help set up a new Sales Training Department for the Toni Division. He was promoted to Memphis District Sales Manager in 1968 and served in that position until his retirement on January 1, 1986. Hub was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Maryville. Over the years, Hub taught Jr. & Sr. High Sunday school classes, adult Sunday school classes and was on the administrative board of his church in Memphis. His wife Lida, of 69 years and two sons, survive Hub: Lt. Col. Steve Norman and his wife Susan of Pekin, IN, and Dr. Kimberly C. Norman DDS, and his wife Angel of Maryville, TN. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Smith West Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mickey Rainwater officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Grandview Cemetery.
