Horace Vineyard Waters age 85, a long-time member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2013. Horace served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S. Little Rock where after the war he traveled to 22 countries on a goodwill mission. He retired from ALCOA where he was a member of the 25 Year Club in March of 1989. He loved all sports, especially baseball. For a number of years he coached the White Sox at Eagleton Little League. He also coached two Eagleton teams in the Little League State Tournament. He was an avid antique and "junk collector." Horace was a sweet and kind loving man, who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a good husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. Preceded in death by: Father & Mother, William Perry Waters & Lola James Waters; Brother, Alvin Waters; Sister-in-law, Marie Waters; Brother, Bobby Waters. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Lula Anderson Waters; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Ron & Lynn Waters and Mark & Mary Waters; Grandson, Brian Waters & wife Susanna; Grandson, Nathan Waters; Special family friend, Sara Jane Anderson; Brother & Sister-in-law, William & Marie Waters; Sister & Brother-in-law, Carol & Charlie Byerley; Sister-in-law, Judy Waters; many nephews, nieces, cousins and good friends. The family would like to thank Blount Memorial Hospice Services and especially Rick Smith for his kind and special care. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Smith Chapel with Rev. Glenn Cummings officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 16, 2013 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
