Hillured Welch

July 19, 1927 — November 17, 2007

Hillured "Hick" Welch age 80, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the family home. He was a member of Brantley's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He was a life long farmer of 64 years in Blount County. His happiest moments were with a turn of a plow and watching his crops grow. His prize passion was an old antique 1951 Model G John Deere tractor that was used by his father. He dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to see the old tractors. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Velma Gainell Welch; grandson, Eric Charles Brown; parents M.E. and Luda Welch; brothers, Alvin, Arnold, Leon, and Oris. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Hoby Williams, Gail and Steve Cruise all of Maryville; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Marcus, Kristin, and Lehman; sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Jay Jones of Maryville; close brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cyrus and Burniece McBee; special nephew, David Coppinger; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Elder J. C. Monday and Elder Lawrence Adams officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Brantley's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
