Henry (Dave) Jordan age 78 of Maryville passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born August 31, 1931 in Georgetown, GA. After graduating from Warranton High School in Warranton, Ga, he joined the United States Navy and served four years as a sonar man in the Korean War. He retired from AT & T after 32 years of service. He was loved and respected as a Bible study teacher at Monte Vista Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Jordan and Vivian K. Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Jean Davis Jordan; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Goepfert of Houston, TX; daughter, Rebecca Jordan of Louisville, KY; granddaughters, Ann Goepfert of Houston, TX, Susan Cadwell of Dallas, TX, Kathy Goepfert of Oklahoma City, OK; loyal friends, LaVerne and Sharon Prince, Nathan Byrd, and Howard Olive. A special thank you to those who cared for him in TCC at Colonial Hills Nursing Center and the Hospice care at Blount Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Mission Fund at Monte Vista Baptist Church, 1735 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in the Smith West Chapel with Dr. Howard Olive and Nathan Byrd officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Grandview Cemetery for the Interment.
