Helen Irene "Granny" Head went home to be with Jesus Sunday, August 12, 2012. Mrs. Head attended Harmony Chapel Independent Freewill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: Husband of 58 years, Rev. Amis Head; Mother, Bertha Potter, Grandson, Roger Birchfield; Brothers, Cara, John, Davis, Leonard, and Sanford Potter; Sister, Genevia Russell; Son-in-law, Lester Birchfield. Left behind to mourn her passing are: Sons & Daughters-in-law, James & Kerri Head and Charles & Brenda Head; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Ruby Hanson of Puyallap, WA, Norma & Lee Fuller of Maryville, Helen Birchfield of Covington, GA, and Billie & Carlos Hembree Jr. of Maryville; 12 Grandchildren; 19 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren; beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins. Special friends, Melinda Wilburn, Ruby Gay, Bud & Claudette Dover, the Homer Burns Family, and a host of other loved friends. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Smith West Chapel with Rev. Robert Burns officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Grandview Cemetery.
