Hazel B. O'Dell

Hazel B. O’Dell, age 96 of Maryville, passed away peacefully at her home on February 2, 2019. She was 96 ½! Hazel was born June 5th, 1922 in Sevier County Tennessee to James Matthias Benson and Susan Hardin Benson of Wears Valley, TN. She was a member of Piney Level Baptist Church for over 60 years serving as a Sunday School teacher, a Bible School teacher, singing in the choir, and the WMU. She truly loved her church and her pastor Rev. George Macht. Mrs. O’Dell loved all of her family as well, and was always a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years whom she loved with all of her heart, James O’Dell; Infant son, Harvey; Daughter, Carolyn Lawson; Grandson, Eddie O’Dell; Sister, Mary Curtis; Brothers, John, Shirl, Harvey, and Frank Benson. Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law, James & Norma O’Dell; Daughter & Son-in-law, Mary Helen & Ronnie Mullins; Son & Daughter-in-law, David & Kay O’Dell; Daughter, Ethel R. Hurst; A host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and other family also survive. A Celebration of Mrs. O’Dells’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Chuck Young and Amy Cowden officiating. The Interment will follow at Piney Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
