Harry James Newman born August 24 1949 in Knoxville Tennessee to Dr. James A. & Jacquline (Miss. Jackie) Newman. He leaves a loving and supportive wife Krystal and from a former marriage, two children Christopher Newman of Scottsdale AZ & Stephanie Williams of Foley MS along with two wonderful grandchildren Walt and Stella Mae Williams. Harry graduated from Farragut HS in 1967 doing his undergraduate at Hiwassee Junior College and finishing at ETSU, graduating on the deans list. While in College he was president of Delta Pi's Fraternity and president of Young Democrats (later converting). Post graduate work at numerous banking schools. From college with a degree in psychology he worked at Johnson City Mental Health Center then Eastern State Psychiatric Hospital. Moving into banking, finance and leasing he worked for GE Capital consumer division, Vice President ITT Commercial Finance, VP C&C Bank, President Newman Consulting, VP GE Capital commercial, VP CitiBank of New York, Astec Financial as National Sales & Marketing Manager. He was VP of Wells Fargo Bank then retiring in 2003 from Signature bank of New York as Vice President. One of his most pleasurable ventures was being one of the founders, Director and Board Member of The Community Bank of East Tennessee. Harry was a avid outdoorsman involved in Scouting as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Sea Scout and Scout Master of two troops. Loved fishing especially with his son Chris. Golf became his passion and he traveled around the country with his numerous golfing buddies playing many of the famous and great courses. After a biking accident destroying his golf swing he found his new passion; Sporting Clays. He shot in numerous tournaments including two US Opens, winning the 410G division in 2011 in the US Open in New Jersey. Harry was a proud, 23 plus year member of Friends of Bill W. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Grandview Pavilion, 2316 Graves Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
