Harold E. Moats

Harold E. Moats age 74 of Maryville passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He retired from Sherwin Williams after 25+ years of service. He was a celebrated racecar driver in the 1960's and 1970's during the Nascar Era at Smoky Mountain Raceway where he won many races and a state championship driving car #41. He had a passion for Antique Cars and was a longtime member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was a fixture on both local and national tours, car shows and cruises. Preceded in death by: Parents, Sam & Linnie Moats; Brother, Charles; Sister, Evelyn. Survivors include: Son, Randy Moats; Brothers, Ralph Moats and Jack Moats; Special friend, Polly Uhrig and many other special friends and neighbors whom were dear to him. A gathering of friends and Celebration of Harold's Life will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, October 18, 2013 at Broadway United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
