Harold A. Grow, 93, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven Monday, January 4, 2010. Grow, a Maryville native, spent most of his life working for ALCOA. He was a trustee and member of Piney Level Missionary Baptist Church, a clock maker, gardener, hiker, and a loving father and grandfather. His clock-making skills and hiking exploits were detailed in several newspaper and magazine articles over the years. Mr. Grow dedicated his life to helping others, as did his father, Lenny “Shorty�? Grow, who built many homes in Maryville and served as a deputy sheriff. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Lynn Grow Cox of Maryville and her husband Murray; grandsons, Brian David Cox and Clay Douglas Cox; granddaughter-in-law, Rachael Cox; great granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Cox; great grandson, Caleb Douglas Cox; sisters-in-law, Imogene Chambers, Billie June Wilds, and Helen Grow; and a host of friends and family. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the Trinity Chapel with Rev. George Macht officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
