Hallie Buie Turney

Hallie Buie Turney, age 96, passed away on Thursday morning, November 11, 2010, at her home in Ten Mile. She was a long time resident of Alcoa and a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Maryville. She was a retired teacher from the Alcoa School system and was previously employed by South Central Bell. She was active in church groups, garden club and with the retired teachers association. Hallie was the daughter of the late Tennie Lee and Dr. Neill Henry Buie, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lovick Glenn "Doc" Turney Sr.; brothers, Neill Buie, and Daniel Buie; sisters, Eunice Nash, Julia Hillman, Mary Wickerham, and Margaret Reeves. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Marcia Jo Turney; granddaughters, Tara Danielle Turney & boyfriend Chris Richeson, and Becky Flory and husband Paul; grandson, Chris Thurman and wife Crissy; great grandchildren, Jessie Flory, Hailey Flory, Chase Thurman and Cyle Thurman; nieces Patricia and Pricilla Nash; nephew, Jim Wickerham and wife Carolyn & their daughter Julia; Niece, Judy Onley & husband Roger & their children Tennie & Matt; niece, Dolly Martin & her children David, Jeff, & Susan; Special friend, Evelyn Stickler. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 pm, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:30 pm with Rev. Ron Mathews and Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Tom Taylor, Ken Taylor, Ron Tyron, Lance Morehead, Dale Trundle, and Leon Trundle.
