Glenn “Papaw�? Cornett, age 91, of Maryville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 30, 2010. He was preceded in death by: Devoted Wife of 52 years, Virginia May Aldridge Cornett; Step-Father and Mother, Thurman and Minnie Cornett Radford; Sister, Louise R. Murray. He lovingly leaves behind: Son & Daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Wilda Cornett of Maryville; Son & Daughter-in-law, James & Rose Lee Cornett of Oliver Springs; Son & Daughter-in-law, Glendon & Mary Anne Cornett of Lafayette, LA; Daughter & Son-in-law, Phyllis “Susie�? & Larry Williams of Maryville; Sister & Brother-in-law, Estelle & Jim Vance of Crossnore, NC; Nine Grandchildren; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren. Glenn was retired from TVA as a Materials Engineer. He was an active member of Victory Baptist Church for 56 years. He faithfully served his church as deacon, trustee, and treasurer. He loved his family, friends, and church. He cherished being “Papaw�? to his grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his hobby of collecting artifacts. Special thanks to Rose King and the Hospice Home Care team. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Larry Bradley officiating. Special music will be provided by Rev. Bradley, Graysen McConnell, and Jonathan Stringer. Interment will follow immediately at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Victory Baptist Church, 1025 Montvale Road, Maryville, TN 37803 and/or Blount County Historical Museum, PO Box 7051, Maryville, TN 37802. Mr. Cornett’s grandsons, Allen Cornett, Brad Cornett, Bryan Cornett, Jonathan Cornett, Rusty Cornett, Tony Cornett, Mark Williams and grandson-in-law, Tim McConnell will serve as pallbearers.
