Germaine Rita Steiner

January 17, 1932 — February 19, 2010

Germaine Rita (Millsaps) Steiner, 78, passed away February 19, 2010 after suffering a massive stroke. She was born January 17, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Riley and Eula (Pasley) Millsaps. She was a beloved wife, devoted mother and grandmother, loving sister and friend. She was a graduate of Maryville High School, Class of 1950, and Knoxville Business College and chose the role of homemaker after she married in 1953. Germaine was a vital part of her husband’s pastoral ministry in Pound, VA, Radford, VA, Sweetwater, Knoxville, Morristown, and Johnson City, TN. She also supported his ministry in Florida when he served on the clinical team in the Florida Methodist Children’s Home and in Kansas and Georgia where he served as President and CEO of United Methodist residential children’s treatment center. She was a beautiful and charming lady, an avid home decorator, an accomplished pianist who loved gardening and delighted in entertaining guests. Preceded in death by: Infant Daughter, Debra Kay Steiner; Father, Riley Clyde Millsaps. Survivors include: Husband of 57 years, John R. Steiner, a retired United Methodist minister; Mother, Eula Millsaps of Maryville; Son & Daughter-in-law, Mark & Susan Steiner of Overland Park, KS; Daughter & Son-in-law, Ginger & Howard Linds of Toronto, Ontario; Brothers & Sisters-in-law, Charles & Constance Millsaps of Radford, VA and Denton & Delores Millsaps of Princeton, WV; Sister, Beverly Henry of Maryville; Grandchildren, Bridget, Sarah, and Heidi Steiner, Sam & Taylor Linds; Eight nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:30 PM, Monday, February 22, 2010 at First United Methodist Church Maryville with Rev. Larry Carroll, Rev. Jim Green, and Rev. Bob Bostick officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Please remember how much Germaine loved flowers.
