Gerald Richie Smelcer

Gerald Smelcer, age 80 of Maryville, passed away suddenly Friday, May 5, 2023. Gerald was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend. He battled many health issues and was on oxygen since 2014. An avid gym goer for 30 years. He pastored 4 local Baptist churches while also working for ALCOA for 35 years. He retired from Village Baptist in 2009. He loved pastoring, his family and friends, but most of all he loved Jesus and served him with all his heart. He also loved his puppy, Iggy. Preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Olive Smelcer; brother, Lonnie Gene Smelcer; grandparents, Tillman and Malinda Huskey, David and Mary Smelcer. Survived by devoted wife, Jeanette Hall Smelcer; children, Melinda Moore (Mike), Melody Sneed, Chad Smelcer (Mandy); grandchildren, Mercedes Moore, Madigan Moore, Kaylee Sneed, Eli Smelcer, Ben Smelcer; brothers; sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jim Tater Well, Rev Bill White, and Rev.
