Gerald M. Campbell age 87 of Maryville passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member and deacon at Morningstar Baptist Church in Maryville. He was born December 5, 1922 in Maryville and lived his early years in Maryville and Alcoa. He moved to South Knoxville, worked at Alcoa, Oak Ridge, and later opened his own business “Campbell’s Lawn-Mower Sales and Service�? for 25 years at 1705 Woodson Drive in South Knoxville. He was a member serving as deacon and leadership at Gayland Heights Baptist Church for many years. He was a World War II Army Infantry Combat Veteran in The South Pacific. He also served as a 32nd degree Mason. Gerald loved his family, friends, had a sense of humor, could make a stranger laugh and have a nice day. He loved to travel, go to church, a daily bible reader, and music. He was a good musician playing lead guitar for The Church Choir and also enjoyed singing and playing lead guitar with his wife Lorene playing rhythm guitar and other friends at church and music jam sessions at Vestal Boys Club in Knoxville, Alcoa Union Hall, Music Row, Rocky Branch and Cold Springs Community Club’s in the Maryville area. Gerald was preceded in death by: First Wife, Margarett Sue Travis Campbell; Parents, Henry and Nola Campbell; Brothers, Clay, Clifford, and Twin Brother Herald Campbell. He is survived by: Wife, Lorene Stinnett Hurst Campbell; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Jerry & Sandra Campbell, Mike & Jo-Ann Campbell, Chris & Denise Campbell, Brian & Angie Campbell; Daughters, Pamela Campbell, Denean Sharp & husband Cordell, all of Knoxville; Grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Campbell & wife Sarah, Travis Campbell & wife Deanna, Wayne Campbell, Carrie Malizia & husband Mike, Jo-Ann Campbell, Zoe Campbell, Michelle Lafollette & husband Adam, Colby & Cailey Sharp all of Knoxville; Great-Grandchildren, Audrey & Wesley Campbell and twins, Dominic & Maxwell Malizia; Sister, Gladys Neal of Victorville, CA; several special nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Vada Pack and Gerlene Kirby of Maryville; Brother-in-law, Bill Stinnett & wife Anah of Pigeon Forge, and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Danny Jenkins, Rev. Chuck Webb, and Rev. Shane Bryson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 1, 2010 at Mt. Olive Church Cemetery in South Knoxville for the interment.
