Georgie Raye Cooper

Georgia Hearon Cooper, 88, of Maryville, passed away Friday, August 03, 2012. The daughter of Oscar and Nancy Hearon, she was raised in the Happy Valley community. Mrs. Cooper was married to the love of her life Alvin Cooper for 67 years. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Maryville. An avid historian, genealogist and story teller, Mrs. Cooper loved to keep the family traditions and anecdotes alive for future generations. Many family members and friends have been blessed through the years by her gifts of sewing, gardening, and crafts. Her love of ministry was evident throughout her life and teaching the Sunday School Junior Class was one of her passions. Reading and studying the Bible were so important to her. Mrs. Cooper was a faithful prayer warrior for years. Her heart knew no limits for love and compassion. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her loving husband, Alvin; Daughters, Wanda & husband G.W. Tipton, Debbie Moses; Son, William "Butch" & wife Eva Cooper of Seymour; Sisters, Ida V. Cooper and Judy Whitehead; Brother, Leslie & wife Kathleen Hearon of Happy Valley; Brother-in-law, Jay & wife Helen Cooper; Sister-in-law, Joy Cooper; Halfsisters, Edith & Wilma; Stepbrother, Bobbie & wife Patsy Lane; Grandchildren, Keith & Debbie Cole of Oak Ridge, Greg & Renee Tipton of Conyers, GA, Darlene & Marty Cable, Kristy & John Clark, Amy Leinart of Lake City, Tony & Virginia Cooper of Friendsville, Kevin Cole, Tina & David Rhea of Gainesville, FL, and Rhonda Stringer, Rebecca & Scott Burchfield of Maryville; Great-Grandchildren, Ashley & Gage Cole, Travis, Drew & Jessie Tipton, Beth Cable, Landon & Miranda Clark, Ellie & Joey Leinart, Sean & Nick Stringer, Megan & Faith Cooper, Houston & Jonah Burchfield. Mrs. Cooper was blessed with many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins and devoted friend Ann Pryor. A large circle of caring friends visited with Mrs. Cooper often and held special places in her heart.
