George Hunley Snowden

April 22, 1919 — July 12, 2011

George (PI) Hunley Snowden age 92 of Rockford passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Colonial Hills Health Care Center. He was a dedicated member of Stock Creek Baptist Church. George retired from ALCOA and was a member of their 25-Year Club. He was originally from Greene County and moved to Blount County in 1938. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing with his wife on Tellico River, hiking, hunting, and gardening. Preceded in death by: Parents, Jim & Myrtle Snowden; Brother, Claude “Buck�? Snowden. Survivors include: Devoted and Beloved Wife of 73 years, Nannie “Betty�? Snowden; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Lynn & Janice Snowden and Davis & Pat Snowden; Grandchildren, Stacy Schmidt, Gina Owen, Susan Stout, Beth Baker, and Jim Snowden; 12 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-Grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Smith East Chapel with Rev. Gene Wood and Rev. Buddy Johnson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 9:30 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Stock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
